Ofsted Inspection - May 2019
Glen Park Primary received a Section 8 Ofsted Inspection on the 16th May 2019. This was a single day inspection as the school was previously judged to be ‘good’ during our last inspection in 2012. The purpose of a short Section 8 inspection is to determine whether the school continues to provide a good standard of education and whether safeguarding is effective.
The school was delighted to secure the highest possible outcome from the process. Ofsted have concluded that whilst the school continues to offer our children a ‘good’ level of provision, there is sufficient evidence to suggest that the school may be judged outstanding if it received a full Section 5 inspection now. This means Ofsted will return to the school within the next 12-24 months to carry out a full Section 5 inspection.
We are incredibly proud of all of the children and staff for securing this outcome from the inspection process. The school is judged to have improved significantly overall since our last inspection in 2012 when we were judged to be ‘good’. The leadership team is identified to have a ‘shared passion and commitment to ensure that all pupils achieve to their best’. Governance of the school is also judged to be very strong. Ofsted recognise that staff morale is high and that the school has ‘created an environment where pupil’s learning is at the heart of all decision making’.
The behaviour of our pupils is judged to be ‘exemplary’ and that they ‘are caring towards each other and have well developed, positive attitudes towards learning’. The inspector recognised that writing is a strength of the school and that the ‘standards of writing pupils are reaching are very high’.
Evidence gathered through the inspection demonstrates that pupils ‘make very strong progress across the school in a range of subjects’. Our Early Years provision ensures that we have a vibrant environment in place ‘that enables children to thrive from the moment they start their journey at Glen Park’.
